Backed by research, the product’s impact absorption, enhanced tread pattern and lightweight design offer racehorses the ability to perform at their peak while minimising the risk of injuries and discomfort, on and off the racecourse.

On a fibersand that is not too different from a turf racetrack with good to firm to firm going the Ollov shoe attenuates vertical impact decelerations of the hoof better compared to both an aluminum and steel shoe. This is comparable to lowering Impact Firmness of the ground, which is shown in the results graph.

Another way to explain it is that it lowers the forces that the horse is exposed to at the very moment that the hoof touches the ground.

In the same way, the Ollov* shoe also showed significant lowered maximal load that occurs at midstance, approximately when the limb is vertical. This is seen in the lowered Cushioning values. It is assumed that this is important to minimize risk of orthopaedic injuries.

Responsiveness doesn’t seem to be different between the tested shoes.

The grip is slightly lower with the Ollov* compared to the two other shoes.

*For the sake of clarity, at the time this research was performed by Lars Roepstorff the brand name Equishox hadn’t yet been decided, so it is referred to as Ollov Racing Shoe within the report.
