“Sunday Soldier sustained a nasty wound to her fetlock in her last race at the end of August and needed some time off to recover. She came back to work and although she wasn’t lame, she just wasn’t moving very well.

A month ago, we decided to give Equishox a try and have been very impressed with the results. Sunday Soldier is enthusiastic in her work, moving better than ever and had her first run back since her injury, where she won comfortably by a margin of seven lengths.

She’ll definitely stay in the Equishox shoes; the impact absorption factor has clearly helped her to move more freely at home, and the improvement in her racing performance, when she won at Musselburgh, is a testament to that. “Alan King Racing have been using Equishox racing plates since late September this year on several horses.

We have had good results with horses that have knocked joints in the past, one being Grandeur D’Ame. The shoe allowed his joints to settle giving us a smoother time during training and resulting in him winning first time out at Wetherby on the 18/11/23 by 25 lengths, he also ran a blinder at Cheltenham in the December Gold Cup 16/12/23 finishing 4th . A similar story could be said for another young horse who finished 2nd on his debut in a Bumper.
